The Launch

TSC has the capability to launch sailplanes either by aero-tow or by winch launch. Aero tow is more common and allows us to tow sailplanes to greater heights and distances to acquire lift. The winch launch however, is an inexpensive and dramatic alternative means of launching aircraft when conditions permit or the tow plane is unavailable.

We use a 150HP Citabria 7GCBC light aircraft for aero-towing.

We also winch launch using a truck mounted steel cable winch powered by a Ford 460CID V8.
